Inside Out London - Take part in Lewisham

Inside Out London comes to Catford Broadway on 17 and 26 June with portraits of local people taken and pasted on the side of a 3 story building in Catford Broadway.

This global participatory art project created by renowned French artist JR will celebrate Lewisham’s rich diversity and local culture in the lead up to its year as Borough of Culture 2022.

Inside Out London is the people’s art project and gives everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and make a statement for what they stand for. It is a global platform for people to share their untold stories and transform messages of personal identity into public works of art. Inside Out has taken place in 138 countries with over 415,000 people.

An ambitious programme in 2022 will shine a light on Lewisham’s neighbourhoods, communities and stories to amplify voices and inspire positive change.

The Inside Out Photobooth will travel to different locations across the city, inviting members of the public to have their portrait taken. Almost 3,000 black and white photographs of Londoners faces will be pasted at five locations across the city, creating temporary artworks across London.

Inside Out London will turn the city into an outdoor art gallery celebrating Londoners. Part of London’s hosting of EURO 2020, Inside Out London will capture the portraits and stories of people that make up our great city.
