Lewisham, London Borough of Culture is moving to 2022

Statement regarding London Borough of Culture.

Today, London’s Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, Justine Simons OBE, has announced changes to the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture programme in response to the impact of the coronavirus.

Mayor of Lewisham, Damien Egan said:

“The decision to postpone our year of culture has not been an easy one but it’s important that we are completely focused on keeping services for vulnerable residents going as best we can during the unprecedented challenge that coronavirus presents.

We will continue to work with and support our fantastic cultural partners and grassroots organisations and look forward to celebrating our year of culture in 2022.

This means that Brent 2020 can roll over into 2021 and more crucially it means that our energy over the next few months can be focused on supporting vulnerable people through this difficult time.
