The competition is now in its second year, having been won in 2018 by the London Borough of Waltham Forest, the current
title-holders for 2019, and the London Borough of Brent, who will hold the title in 2020. This time around two more boroughs will be named London Borough of Culture, one for 2021 and one for 2023. Up to six other boroughs will receive support to deliver bespoke cultural projects.
Although we didn’t win last time, we were delighted to have been awarded a £216,000 Cultural Impact Award to deliver Age Against the Machine – Festival of Creative Ageing. The ground-breaking festival, which runs from 13 September to 6 October 2019, celebrates the wonders of creativity as we age.
Join us on our campaign over the coming months as we showcase all of the things we love about our wonderful borough and why we should be named London Borough of Culture 2021. We’ll be submitting our bid by 28 October 2019 and the winner will be announced by Sadiq Khan in January 2020.
