RE:SOUND LEWISHAM SUPPORTED BY KAE TEMPEST

'Lewisham has shaped me as an artist in immeasurable ways, I've spent my entire artistic life responding to things I have learnt from growing up in Lewisham'.

Countdown to submission deadline!

What is RE:Sound Lewisham?

Creativity knows no pandemic. We are still amazing, we are still writing, we are still producing, we are still singing. This summer there will be no festivals in fields or parks, there’s no poetry slams or gigs. Creativity is reacting, changing and perhaps even flourishing. We can still connect, collaborate and co-create.

Re:Sound Lewisham is a showcase of your creativity, a digital festival of song and spoken word from your home, an online celebration of Lewisham’s vibrant music and spoken word scene.

The categories

Each category is divided into two separate age groups, 11-17 years old & 18 years+.

  • Original Song

  • Original spoken word/poetry

  • Cover Song

The industry panel will shortlist entries and the winner from each category will be decided by public vote with some exciting prizes and opportunities to be announced shortly!

Mayor Damien Egan and Councillor Andre Bourne will select an overall Winner of Winners.

Selected entries (18+ years category only) will be shared online to allow the public to look, like and share.

Get Creative, Get Involved, Get Ready…

Most importantly, be yourself. Young people are very important and we encourage you to use your own voice. We want you to enjoy making your entry for the competition so here are some things to think about:

  • What is your creative spark?

  • What is it you want to say?

  • How can you express yourself in song or written word in order to get your message across?

  • Think about your experience of lockdown and try to convey what this time has meant to you?

Try and film your video somewhere with a plain background, lots of light and not too much background noise. We also need parental permission from everyone who participates, so try not to use too many people in your video and if you don’t live with them, make sure you follow the social distancing guidelines. The most important thing is to have fun whilst creating your entry!
